Meet the President and founder of PL Smith Consulting

Paul Smith, president, and founder of PL Smith Consulting, brings more than 30 years of experience directing small- medium sized accounting teams to clients throughout Texas. Beginning his career in Big 4 public accounting, he has broad exposure to a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, high tech, communications, retail and service sectors. After leading accounting teams in various Fortune 500 companies throughout his career, Paul branched out on his own in 2017, leveraging his diverse, cross-functional background to found PL Smith Consulting, a boutique consultancy designed specifically to enhance, improve and or create accounting teams for small to medium size businesses. Paul works to build and develop accounting teams from the controller level to staff accountants through hands-on leadership. Leading by example, Paul rolls up his sleeves and works side by side with team members on the core details of routine accounting functions such as month end close and financial statement preparation, general ledger account analysis and reconciliations as well as special projects. In this way he is able to earn the trust and respect of his clients and their accounting teams putting them on a self-sustaining path of continued success.

Paul is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and holds active CPA certificates in both Colorado and Texas. Married with 4 grown children and 2 grandkids, he enjoys spending time with family, the outdoors, skiing, golfing and travel.
